The party chose to leave the church to gather further information and found the scene to be fey in nature. They also discovered a signpost in Common directing them to “The Good Doctor” and notations in Sylvan showing a “G.G” in charge of the realm and who remained within.
In conversing with the doctor, they learned Glinda Goodwitch had the keys to the realm, and any number of individuals could have them imprisoned here. From the doctor, the duo learned the rules: they couldn’t harm Glinda directly nor kill her outright, once an idiom was used it could not be used again by either party but it could persist, and now that they learned there were rules they were in place.
The party wished to be in the same boat and found themselves in a boat in the harbor together. Slightly further out, an individual was in a bathtub with bubbles and a glass of wine, looking over at the pair. They learned this individual was covering for Glinda while she was on vacation. Glinda also happened to be in charge of the cards pulled from The Deck of Many Things. The party was frozen while he took a call from a bubble and throttled a rabbit bopping field mice. Molly attempted to interrupt and was suddenly swimming with the fishes 100 feet below water. She took a potion of Monkey Fish and swam back to the surface.
Ronald, the individual covering for Glinda, turned out to be the outsider with enmity towards Felicity, a consequence of the card she pulled earlier. They were especially displeased because Ronald could not pull off Glinda‘s dress, and it took 10 times as long to do his makeup. He stated if they didn’t leave within the hour, the duo would be losing something very important to them, then disappeared via idiom.
The Good Doctor was waving from the dock and told the party Ronald had many issues he needed to deal with and was, unfortunately, always stuck covering for everyone. The Doctor also bequeathed 3 cards to the party that could either stop an idiom from happening or capture an idiom to use again later.
Molly interrogated the Doctor for information on beating Ronald but found they didn’t want to upset him, as he held all control, even as the lowly intern with no time off who wanted Glinda‘s job but would be cruel. The Doctor spoke of a nearby castle that might aid the party. On the way there, the party learned that Glinda‘s schtick was to learn a lesson or suffer a consequence, and it dawned on Felicity that Ronald‘s ire was irrational and due to The Deck of Many Things.
Arriving at the castle, Felicity climbed in and opened the gate. Exploring the castle, they found a bug wrapped in a large fluffy rug sipping a cup of tea. Further in the castle, there was a raucous group of a businessman, lawyer, HR specialist, and individuals in prison jumpsuits, a group of Pros and Cons that Molly captured in one of the Doctor‘s cards.
Felicity did see some writing and a fly on the wall. Felicity wanted to speak to the fly but found she and Molly could not and were going to leave but the walls started whispering and would communicate with the fly. The wall confirmed that Ronald loved to take long baths and drink wine and was also afraid of something hidden in the world that Glinda did not trust him with, a portion of her power. There would be an armory further in that the party could loot. The wall bid them farewell, and the fly joined them, giving them a severed hand in the process.
The party looted part of the armory, and, upon leaving, encountered a large time construct. Molly managed to adjust the alarm to give them a warning before the hour was up before entering the throne room. Ronald was in the tub with cucumbers over his eyes. The party refilled his wine glass and then barraged him with idioms before Molly started pulling out his teeth.
Ronald brought his tub “Curiosity” to life and began battling the duo. Felicity turned them into a pair of pajamas for herself. When Ronald attempted to copycat Felicity, they countered him with a trump card. After weathering his storm and pelting him with lightning bolts, the fly divebombed the devil attacking Felicity and went out in an explosion. After burying him six feet under, the party had a revelation they could put him out of his misery.
The entire group is back in the castle, Ronald in the tub with a nicer bottle of wine and a month’s vacation. The group managed to resurrect the fly (as a phoenix) and The Good Doctor. Ronald bid the group farewell as he had the ladybug from the rug fly them all home.
Upon arrival, Irving stated he was looking for the duo to complete a job, but the party wanted to sell their golden egg. The shopkeep was incredibly interested in Felicity and agreed they would pay more for the egg in exchange for a day, night, and morning breakfast with Felicity.
The party gained a mythic tier!
