Campaign ≤2 Episode 23

Jenny Sea Quell

Year, Season, Month, Days: 5990 F.Y. Frinle, Novulu 6-11

After the fight, Molly spoke with Felicity and Tektun about Novulu’s requests for torture. Although they promised not to kill the party members, Molly gave Tektun a Bead of Force for insurance. On the ride back, Molly caught a terrifying fish, a sarcastic fringehead, which they gave to the captain as a “gift.”

The party’s unique moral compass allowed them to nearly avoid paying dead sailors, but they did pay for ship repairs and managed to evade the other 2000 gold they owed the captain of the ship after docking in Elysntire. The party reminisced about burning down tailor shops and museum heists gone moderately-well.

The newly-hired crew negotiated payment of 35% of the haul plus half the booze off the top. One particularly weathered sailor offered help as a first mate with experience. The party then went shopping. Molly encountered Everett, the blob creature they stuck in a bag with his own waste, still stuck on the edge of the door where they left him over a month ago. He gave them directions to the Upturned Scythe, a magic shop that might be interested in a dangerous deck of cards.

Molly made an agreement with the shopkeeper, Frederique, that they would buy the deck if cards were drawn by Molly. Molly drew The Key and was granted a magic weapon. The shopkeeper offered more money if Felicity were to draw a card, which she did, drawing The Flames and gaining the enmity of an outsider, much to her chagrin. Tektun refused to draw from the deck. Molly sold Everett but made a deal that he would draw from the deck and then be free. He left with his head held high in a bodysuit of his own waste.

The weathered first mate ran up to the party after the shop, having found a job for the duo, stealing from someone under false pretenses. The party purchased several Scrolls of Telescription, planning to message Ruth and company. Planning ahead, the party chose to deposit 115,000 gold pieces at The Bank of the Shell Coast, listing Ruth and Tektun as beneficiaries, and they even paid Tektun! Although the party had issues with the beardless dwarf, they moved past it in a normal conversation, as they always do.

The party learned the name of their first mate, Irving, and learned the job was to steal a book from the library of Mr. Hear, who was having a party tonight and needed a cook and serving crew. The party bought and rented costumes to prepare before going to the house.

Immediately, the party realized something was wrong. The house was rife with puns and idioms. Felicity struggled with the kitchen and goose, while Molly dealt with the breaking of ice, managing drinks in teacups, and scouting the area. The head of the house gave incorrect information about a torte, but the party didn’t catch it.

As the evidence piled up, the party began to fall victim to the puns of the house. They decided to get the book and run, avoiding the further perils the house was hiding behind a humorous veneer. After playing a river, flying on a clock, and using a cooked goose to get the book wyrm, the party exited the house with the book in hand, which turned into a red fish.

As Felicity found skin on her teeth, the party began to realize they had not escaped and fled to the nearest church. They found people in the pews without a prayer, the party’s backs against the wall, afraid of what was to come.
