In an attempt to catch up to The Ruby Renegade, Felicity, with Molly’s aid, rushed through the narrow river at high speed. While this struck fear into the hearts of the crew, Molly raised morale by offering 20 gold for every head laid at the party’s feet.

Not feeling well, Molly decided to fish and managed to catch a 603 lb yellowfin tuna, taking more of a supervisory role.

Tektun advised the party they had a handful of spells that could assist them, specifically when they caught up to The Ruby Renegade. Several hours later, the party was able to identify a ship that The Ruby Renegade was pursuing, bearing the flag of The Confederacy of Markets—one of the largest trading groups of Veldath with lands on the continent of Talia.

Drawing closer, Molly created an improvised grapeshot for the long-range cannons in preparation for the fight, attempting to debilitate The Ruby Renegade‘s speed. Shortly after, The Ruby Renegade raised a black flag with a red dripping claw and began open pursuit.

The party’s ship, Vervain, raised the flag of The Confederacy of Markets. Molly created a flag of the bloody claw but crossed it out and raised it without Felicity’s knowledge.

The party engaged the pirate ship as it attacked the merchant vessel. Tektun used Gust of Wind (modified for homebrew ship system) to accelerate the ship within boarding range. Throughout the engagement, Felicity was cursed to itch for 7 hours. She was recognized by one of the crew members and then made a grand entrance.

During the fight, Felicity became aware that The Ruby Renegade‘s captain was not present for falling thunderbolts or her entrance, and the ship they were boarding was a fake. Simultaneously, Molly recognized Felicity’s ship ahead of them, disguised as the vessel attacked by the false Ruby Renegade.

Molly gave commands to double-ram the true Ruby Renegade, causing significant damage and throwing the unbraced enemy crew on the pirate ship, as well as Felicity. Tektun was also thrown and promptly knocked unconscious from blunt mast-to-head trauma.
