The party was escorted to their room in the tower, 40 or 50 flights of stairs up, before discussing their prison/guest situation and ordering food. They spoke with Patty, one of the servants, about the palace and Marasennah. They ordered owlbear steak and schemed. They invited Patty to eat with them, but he had to go polish Marasennah‘s favorite candlestick.

The duo slept overnight and awoke to Drago inviting them to attend the council that Marasennah was holding so they could add it to their book. The group prepped themselves for attending the council, and Drago escorted them. After introducing themselves to Duchess Etnas Xing, Molly took a seat on the side of the council seats, escorted by Lady Tammy.

Queen Marasennah had the party explain what they heard of Duchess Etnas Xing‘s plans to overthrow her. Cosovo was also expelled from the room when he could not speak about his potential involvement. Marasennah also made reference to Felicity and Molly ruling the kingdom in the future when “they ascended higher”.

Adrastante requested a trial by combat against Etnas, which Marasennah approved. Etnas nominated Molly and Felicity as their champions, Adrastante nominated Seridia, Captain of the Elite Guard. The quick-paced fight ended quickly as Seridia was taken down by the party, allowing Etnas to keep her position. The party then realized they could have thrown the fight, and realized all the members they spoke to about rebellion were now looking at them through angry eyes.

Molly celebrated by turning excellent wine into perfectly average “Molly’s Brain Wine” with notes of “snap crackle pop cranapple mid-tone finish with a stale corn finish”, “luxurious mealy aroma 150-proof halibut undertones”, “it fuses violent rosemary elements and an obsessive coconut aftertaste”, and “a non-toxic whitefish essence and satirical candy corn overtones are united”.

The party was asked to stay for a private meeting with Marasennah and were escorted to her protected private chambers. The room contained a moonroof and some natural sunlight; constellations, meteors, and the moons were also viewable on the roof from the inside, moving slowly about the roof.

Marasennah spoke about her origins, breaking a noble vampiric line, and implementing societal changes while walking through sunlight streaming through the tower’s opening. She stated she didn’t even recall why she started.

Noticing some oddities about Marasennah‘s behavior, the party noticed references to several artifacts that would allow her to walk in sunlight or expand her kingdom. The prominent candlestick in the middle was polished to a mirror finish, it had a weird candle held atop it.

Marasennah expressed interest in a new trade hub emerging in the southern continent, potentially world domination. The party also learned Lady Anaxi was a “daughter” of Marasennah, but not a claimed child.
