Campaign ≤2 Episode 25

The Ruby Renegade, Too

Year, Season, Month, Days: 5990 F.Y. Frinle, Novulu 12-18

Felicity accompanied her date, while Molly opted to drink in a nearby tavern. The date, whose name had not yet been revealed, took her out for freshly caught and grilled fish, accompanied by traditional Catfolk blood wine. Throughout the entire meal, Felicity remained silent. After eating her fill, she finally asked, “Who are you?” and learned his name was Levent. Felicity expressed a desire to join an organized fight, and Levent took her to the arena.

Meanwhile, Molly distributed the crew’s share of the gold through Tektun and discussed the likelihood of Felicity being bored or returning covered in blood. Tektun also reminded Molly about their book-writing endeavor. Molly, begrudgingly, set up a writing space at the bar. The orc bartender proposed “the writer’s special,” and Molly challenged them both to drink two, equivalent to about 8 servings of whiskey. They both downed their drinks, and Molly promptly projectile-vomited on the bartender.

Attempting to rob the bartender as a challenge, Molly’s stolen pieces were noticed. Molly explained the book they were writing and advised the bartender to avoid Raven Rock. While sitting down to work on the book, Molly sent Irving to price out new ships. After an hour of writing, Molly lost interest, and Tektun edited her work. Molly gambled with the crew using loaded dice, netting about equal. Tektun approached Molly with a highly edited page and suggested he write the book, negotiating a deal to do so.

Levent and Felicity joined a battle with two dwarves, and Felicity challenged them to a fight with no holds barred. They fought with 4:1 odds. One of them threatened to take ears to add to their necklace. It was a violent and bloody fight, but Felicity managed to kill them both in a violent coups de grâce. Felicity paid a doctor to bring Levent back from the edge of death, although she wasn’t happy about the price-gouging methods. Felicity took the necklace of ears, the ear-collecting dwarf’s ears, and the rest of his head.

When meeting up with Molly and Tektun, Felicity recounted the exploits of her and Levent. Felicity gave Tektun the head, and he offered to have it made into another beheaded to match Zonnie. For some reason, Felicity took the head without this being the goal and happily sent Tektun to have that done.

Levant purchased the strongest ale the tavern had for Felicity. It was remarkably thick, strongly spiced, and hard to swallow. Her body tried to reject it but was unable to vomit, as it was too thick, although she tried until her body finally gave up. Felicity thanked Levent for the great evening but told him she was not attracted to him. He gracefully accepted friendship and suggested they could have breakfast another time before speaking to the bartender and leaving.

Planning to meet up with Ruth, Molly sent a scroll and informed her that they would pick her up soon if she wanted to join them. Molly took Felicity to a nearby inn to get her a room to rest in. Luckily, before entering, Felicity was somehow able to throw up the thick liquid, although it took quite a bit of effort.

Molly set up Felicity’s room so the sun would blast her head-on in the morning. Tektun placed the new beheaded next to her as she snuggled with Zonnie. Molly went to bed soon after at about 4:00 PM. Tektun took note of Felicity telling Molly she was her best friend.

Waking up to a foul burp in the morning, Felicity peeled Zonnie off her head and shifted the sheets to blast her retinas with sunrise. She found a bottle of Alchemist’s Mercy from Tektun on her chest. She recovered from her hangover and was updated on her exploits from the previous day. Tektun took Felicity’s clothes to have them repaired.

Molly convinced Felicity that the necklace made her stronger. Irving provided the costs of a new ship and advised where to look into airships. He also spoke to Tektun, and the party was contacted by a member of the Wenian Federation to investigate the trade routes from The Last Free Lands of Avak. Irving and the crew had breakfast and discussed their plans moving forward.

The party spoke with the harbormaster and purchased a 130-foot oak warship, subsequently named The Ruby Renegade, Too. They then hired more crew and a wizard, LaMer, whom Tektun now managed.

Coordinating with Ruth, the party sailed and picked up her, Han, the wagon, horses, and Juniper south of Corkis Lake. The party knew it was soon going to reach the time of year when the sun disappeared entirely for three months.

On the 18th day of the month of Novulu, the party saw comets and meteors streak across the sky south of their position, which was notable as there weren’t any predicted showers, and the sheer number of them stood out during the night.

To be more informed, the party sailed for a few days and stopped at the Wenian Federation, where they encountered many scalykind such as serpentfolk and kobolds, the apparent inhabitants of this country. There were a large number of guards along the dock, all of them bearing the image of a hydra on their equipment.

Molly spoke to them in Draconic and learned the serpentfolk were telepathic, but the kobolds were not. They were guided to speak with a guild office and gathered that The Last Free Lands of Avak were a nomadic people that never had a port before. The Wenian Federation did not believe the port was set up by the nomadic people and wanted to know the origination. If it happened to be The Confederacy of Markets, the Wenian Federation wanted to know right away and required proof if that were the case. Unofficially, the Wenians wanted the port taken out.

Shocked at the low price given by the guildmaster, Irving argued for the original price. The party learned this was a common tactic to skim off the top of contracts. The official also noted the delta of The River of Death was the location of the port. Many countries upriver sent their dead down it to enter the Pelagic Sea. After picking up several Scrolls of Telescription, the party stocked up on a month’s worth of supplies before sailing south.
